#9 True heroes

My true hero would have to be my dad, Eric. He has been through the roughest of times, starting with his childhood to losing a beloved job. He lived and learned form his mistakes and has become one of the most memorable people in my life. He has showed me how to love my enemies, choose the right choices, and emotions that I thought I had mastered.
My dad is not perfect, but he has some of the greatest qualities that no one in the world can ever beat his. One of his mottos is, “Do not argue with the past, but point towards the future.” Ever since I heard that quote I have lived up to it, and learned how to forgive and forget. He is extremely smart and can read 6 books a week! His purpose in life is glorify God. Besides putting God first in his life, he helps others first before helping himself. He cooks dinner for our family every night and thinks of new and creative recipes that make his meals satisfying.
The true meaning of the word hero is defined by my dad. He survives everything, teaches us how to become more responsible, and things that you can’t even imagine. I look up to my dad for everything including advice, homework, and love, for he can make your day brighter by showing his love.

#7 Animal In the Wild

One of my favorite animals is koala bears. I would LOVE  to see how they act in their environment. Being at the zoo is a great experience and a lot of fun, but you never get the full experience unless you have seen them in the wild. Everything about them intrigues my interest. Seeing how they interact with their species, what they eat, how they look, etc. Pictures of them are great, but seeing them in real life would be magical! They have those cute button noses, and fuzzy ears that make them look like a soft, squishy teddy bear. I have always wondered how well they would do as household pets.  Koala bears have very distinct eyes that make them even more unique.

Rarely do you see koala bears in a zoo. Knowing that koala bears are endangered, make me feel pain that one of my favorite animals might be going extinct. Although there is nothing I can do to help that, I know specialists with degrees of zoology are finding ways to help save them.

#8 Shades of…..

My shade of color that I am feeling today is orange. Orange makes me feel alive because of its vibrant color. I can feel Summer coming right around the corner, and colors including orange remind me of the hot days in the three months of freedom.

The sun shining bright on my sunkissed body. The warmth soothing my mind and thoughts. Not caring about whats going to happen in the future, but being in the present living life to the fullest.

Scents of tulips, roses, and lilies invading my body. Picking the flowers and admiring every petal, leaf, and smell. The colors lighting up the room affecting everyone in the most pleasent feeling you could imagine.

The most famous thing you think of when you hear the word orange is the fruit orange! Oranges ALWAYS lift up my spirits because of their freshness, beauty, and that taste of tangy, sweet, and satisfying juice. Nutrition plays a part in the oranges especially since they’re high in vitamin C. Not only are they a good quality food, but it can be made into a juice that no one can refuse…. orange juice!

Challenge #4 Earth Hour

The 3R’s represent a part in my life. Like the song “Reduce, Reus, Recycle” By Jack Johnson, I found out ways to make the the world a greener place by doing the simplest things. Like when my family and I finish a pack of soda, I cut up the plastic so the fish, otters, birds, etc.so their necks don’t get caught in it.  Even when I have had the roughest day and just want to throw everything in the trash, I stop to think about what it would do to the world, and then I decide to put it in the recycling and know I did a good deed by doing something so easy, that it actually brightens my day. I know that everyone says reusing plastic water bottles are bad for your immune system, but since I am going to pass away anyways, later in life hopefully, I reuse the bottles, because not only does it save money, but if I get sick from it, my immune system will get stronger to fight other illnesses. Whenever my days get extremely crazy I forgot about the 3R’s and throw everything in the trash and later I regret ever doing it. It has gotten to be a habit though and I need to find new and creative ways to prevent me from doing that. I will try everyday to think of new ways to help save the world. My goal in life is to plant 100 trees through my life span. The littlest things can make a huge difference in someone’s life, like just telling someone about the 3R’s and opening their minds to think about it. I am not perfect, nor will I ever be, but I am going to try insanely hard to reduce, reuse, recycle. So REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!!!!!!!!!!!

My Grandfather

When I found out that my grandfather was dying, slowly but surely, I was distraught. I could not imagine what life would be like without him. I had so many good memories with him, memories that will live on forever in my mind which will be past down generations to my kids, grandkids, and so on. I remember this one time, when I came down to the Sunkist State, California, my grandfather gave me a very precious gift that I still have to this day. This gift showed his love for me. He handed me a heart felt, tear jerking poem with a penny attached to it. The penny had a heart shaped cut out in the middle; and as I studied this gift inquisitively, he said to me,

” This is for your from the bottom of my heart. You mean the world to me, and nothing or no one can change that. Whenever you look at this, think of me, and know that I love you with all my heart.”

My love for my grandfather is irrevocable, undeniable, as his is for me. I know it won’t be long before he will pass on, but he will be watching me from above like my own personal Guardian Angel.

Podcasting: A Literary Connection

One particular podcast that intrigued me was Jennie’s. Not because it was Twilight, but because it had many good qualities. In her fascinating podcast, Jennie used things to catch the listener’s attention like, using the right music to set the mood, great dialogue and enough information to describe the story. She provided an excellent amount of details and description to give us a clear idea of what the book was about. Even though I have read Twilight, I think she put enough information in her podcast to give us an idea of what the book is going to be about, causing the listener to want to read it. The dialogue was exquisite, for the voices in it fit the descriptions in the book. This podcast gives me a better understanding of how to create a brilliant podcast. During her podcast, I realized that she set the mood not only with her dialogue and description of Forks,  Washington, but she also gave the music a sad, yet intense tone to make the listener feel like they were in the story. Her podcast gave me an image of the story so vividly, I felt like I was hearing about Twlight for the first time. I am undeniably proud to write about this podcast because I know Jennie put a lot of thought into this podcast making it a breath taking podcast. After listening to this podcast, I will know clearly how to create a well written podcast. I know it’s going to be hard to make a podcast as well as Jennie’s but I will try my hardest to succeed my goal. A good podcast is when the writer feels and knows the podcast is worth listening to.

A Slice of Life

My feet were burning in agonizing pain and strain from the running I had just accomplished. Sweat ran down my face, as the cold weather cooled my body to a room temperature heat. I felt relieved and nothing in the world could ever change that. My thoughts ran blank from my mind, my muscles screamed for no more, my pulse beating like a drum right next to my ears. Running wasn’t just a word and a thing to do anymore. It was life and therapy all in one deal. I will never let running fade away from my life, for it helps me let go of the past, and prepares me for the future.

The Recession

During one of our most unbearable moments in history, the recession can have a negative or positive affect on certain individuals. During this crisis, it has had a very little affect on me, but I have learned very much from it. I have learned to walk more instead of using so much of my parents gas, save more to not be in a crisis for spending money on little things like going to the movies or shopping etc. In my opinion, I think the recession is going to get better just because it always does, and we have already begun to find ways to get out. The same things repeat themselves in history. Almost everything that was original has been discovered way back in the day. If we have made it out of a recession before, we can definitely do it again. I honestly don’t know Obama’s plan for getting out of the recession, because I wasn’t a fan, but I am open to anything that saves the world. Think about it, if someone has been layed off, yeah you don’t get paid anymore, but you get to spend more family time, which should be cherished every moment. Try to think of good ways to get back on your feet. Never let anyone tell you your not capable of something. In the end you will succeed, for who knows, it could save the world!
